Siena Hotel Evacuated After Smoke Complaints in Reno

Jan 19, 2007 01:31 AM

There were some tense moments early Wednesday morning for some visitors at the Siena Hotel, Spa and Casino after they were evacuated from their rooms.

Reno firefighters responded to the hotel at around 2 a.m. after reports of light smoke and a strong fire smell on the fourth through ninth floors. Some visitors were brought down to the casino floor until firefighters could find the source.

Firefighters say a burned belt in a heating unit caused the incident and things are back to normal now.

Sprinkler douses fire in northwest Las Vegas hotel
LAS VEGAS Las Vegas firefighters are crediting automatic fire sprinklers with dousing a fire in a northwest Las Vegas hotel room last night.

Several hotel guests were evacuated for less than an hour -- but no one was hurt at the eight P-M fire at the Hampton Inn hotel near Tenaya Way and Smoke Ranch Road.

Fire investigators are calling it accidental.

Firefighters say they responded to an automatic alarm and found smoke coming from one room on the second floor of the three-story hotel. The hotel's got 127 rooms.

In the end, it turned out that sprinklers put out the flames -- and only an odor of smoke was left.

Fire Breaks Out In Dubois Hotel

POSTED: 1:25 pm EST January 23, 2007

Dubois -- A Clearfield County hotel was evacuated Tuesday morning after a serious fire broke out in the halls and lobby.

The fire started just before 9:30 a.m. at the Quality Inn, formerly the Ramada Inn, near exit 101 of Interstate 80.

A sergeant with the Sandy Township police department, who was one of the first to arrive, reported seeing heavy flames coming from above the men's restroom near the front door.

Several hotel employees said the hotel did not have very many guests at the time because it was a weekday and said at that time of the morning most guests had already checked out. Guests who were still there were evacuated to the United Electric Offices next door.

There were no reports of any injures.

As of noon, crews were still at the scene and the cause of the fire had not been determined

Posted to the web January 24, 2007

More than 90 delegates were counting their losses on Monday night after a fire broke out in a Nairobi hotel.

The delegates, who lost travel documents and other valuable items, were not at Nibs Hotel in Kileleshwa.

They had to seek alternative accommodation.

The cause of the fire, which destroyed most of the 34 rooms, had not been established by yesterday.

Indonesian Tita Rubi said she and the visitors, mainly from Indonesia and Vietnam, were at Kasarani Sports Centre, one of the venues of the conference, when a hotel worker called to inform them about the fire.

Police station

Officers from Kileleshwa police station went to hotel to maintain security.

Mr Patrick Bhre, an Indonesian said: "We told the management about problems to do with electricity."

He and the other delegates later recorded statements at the police station.
