Wind-Turbines Buyer Guide
What size turbine would I need for my home?

Homes use approximately 9,400 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per year (about 780 kWh per month). Depending upon the average wind speed in the area, a wind turbine rated in the range of 5 to 15 kilowatts would be required to make a significant contribution to meet this demand

Bergey Windpower -Small wind turbines for home & businesses
Bergey Windpower is the world’s leading supplier of small wind turbines. With installations in all 50 U.S. States and more than 90 countries, and an international network of ~ 600 dealers, we have the products and experience to put the wind to work for you.At Bergey Windpower, we take pride in offering advanced-technology products that let homeowners and businesses generate their own clean power and even spin their utility meter backwards. Our turbines are also used for off-grid homes, for rural electrification, and to boost the performance of solar electric systems.
Wind Turbine Industries, Corp.
The Jacobs® wind turbines are considered by many to be the "Cadillac" of the wind turbine industry. Founded in the mid 1920s, the Jacobs® name is the oldest and best established company in the field of wind energy.

In 1986 Wind Turbine Industries Corporation acquired from Earth Energy Systems, Inc., ("EESI" formerly Jacobs Wind Electric) a subsidiary of Control Data, Inc., the exclusive rights to the Jacobs® name, as well as the assets of Jacobs® Wind Energy Systems. Wind Turbine Industries also acquired from EESI the exclusive right to develop, market and sell the 10 kilowatt hybrid system.

Siemens Wind Power

Key characteristics of Siemens wind turbines

A rugged, conservative structural design
Fail-safe double safety systems
Well-proven lightning protection of blades, nacelle and controller
Automatic lubrication systems with ample supplies
Climate control of the internal environment (2.3-MW and up)
Simple generator systems without slip rings
Application of best engineering practice in all details

Vestas Wind Systems A/S
Vestas is the world leader in wind technology and a driving force in the development of the wind power industry.Vestas’ core business comprises the development, manufacture, sale, marketing and maintenance of wind power systems.Vestas started to manufacture wind turbines in 1979 and has played an active role in this dynamic industry ever since. In 1987, Vestas began to concentrate exclusively on wind energy and since then, the company has developed from a pioneer in the industry with a staff of around 60 to a global hi-tech market-leading group with more than 9,500 employees (June 2004).

Proven Energy Ltd
Proven Energy Ltd. manufactures one of the worlds most robust and reliable wind turbine systems on the market. Based on 10-years worth of initial research and design, the turbines have been enhanced and refined over the years to give you the best that you can get on the market.

Developing a system that can run through hurricane force winds and not stop producing power is no mean feat. The system works with nature and not against it like upwind turbines – the result is that you can get the most out of even the severest of winds and maximise on your investment.

So far, Proven have installed over 700 wind turbine systems into over 30 countries world-wide with a distributor network spanning the globe to give you the customer a local service.

Abundant Renewable Energy
ARE wind generators are as strong as you'll find anywhere. Designed for harsh climates, they are built simply and ruggedly to quietly last. ARE machines have a large swept area to capture more wind and produce more energy, especially in low wind speeds. These machines produce energy in the winds you get, day in and day out… Power when you need it, not just in storms
